Margie Blumberg,Washington, D.C.-area author and publisher, proudly debuts Sunny Bunnies (www.mbpublishing.com), her first in a series of preschool tales about a bunny family residing in Carrot Cake Park, a friendly, gentle place where happy discoveries happen every day. This engaging story—told in charming rhymes with delightful illustrations—involves two sunny bunnies, their parents, and friends and takes place in the sunniest, sandiest summery spot in the park—Piper Beach. Future books will bring the remaining seasons to life, followed by trips abroad.
Written for children ages 2-6, Sunny Bunnies was inspired by cherished outings with two of her nephews, as well as a memorable year, while in law school, as an assistant teacher to first graders. “I’m excited to see this charming rabbit world come to life in words and art. My hope is that the books will help children see the priceless value of sharing knowledge and a sense of fun and wonder as they explore their world and play with others.”
About the Author and the Illustrator
A native Washingtonian, Margie Blumberg resides in Bethesda, Maryland, where, when not writing, she enjoys taking photographs of her neighborhood's real bunnies, who, every summer, come sliding under the fence into her backyard to eat. Blumberg is thrilled to introduce this picture book for young children. Blumberg is also the coauthor of Shakespeare for Kids, His Life and Times: 21 Activities (Chicago Review Press).
June Goulding, illustrator, is hopping with happiness! In the tradition of Beatrix Potter, she draws and paints from her imagination but is inspired by real animal life. June especially likes rabbits, so to be asked to visualize and illustrate a whole rabbit world has been wonderful. She lives in Bristol, England, where she shares her home with rabbits, hens, and birds; they bring her joy and make her smile each day. To create the illustrations, she used a dip pen and ink for the line work on paper and painted with watercolors, adding final details in colored pencil. June has come to know this family of rabbits very well and feels sure they will welcome all small children into their special world to play.
