This award-winning illustrator and portrait artist also illustrated Avram’s Gift, a 2003 Sydney Taylor Notable Book Award winner. Book reviewers have called Ms. McGaw’s illustrations “exquisite” and “luminous.” Visit Laurie's Web site to learn more about her life and work.

Guelph, Ontario, Canada: Congratulations, Laurie McGaw, illustrator of Avram's Gift, for being chosen by the Royal Canadian Mint to design the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Coins and the Silver and Gold Royal Wedding Coins. They are a stunning success!

One hundred years ago (April 15, 1912), the Titanic sank. Laurie illustrated a touching story about that voyage for children. It was written (by Daisy Corning Stone Spedden) from the perspective of the stuffed bear who was on that ship and survived.
